Iranian university wins architecture competition
Tehran, A team consisting of students of Iranian University of Science and Technology (IUST) won the title of the 'School in the Marshes' architecture contest on Monday.
Some 100 teams from 37 countries participated in the event, among which the Iranian students took the first place.
The faculty member of IUST Haniyeh Sanayeiyan led the team.
Dewan architecture and engineering firm along with Tamayouz Excellence Award sponsored the contest.
Participants were told to design a modern school with six classes in a remote jungle village near Basrah, Iraq.
The proposed plans had to take into consideration the limitations in the region and ecological effects of construction on the nature and animals.
The winner enjoys a sixmonth employment at Dewan's office in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates which is extendable to 12 months.
