Iran’s Cabinet declares Monday day of mourning

Tehran, The Cabinet in a statement late Sunday denounced terrorist attack on the people in Ahvaz and declared Monday day of public mourning.

The statement said that the terror attack on the people in Ahvaz indicated that the enemies pursue nothing but to destroy Iran and Iranians and they target the children, women, old and young, worker and soldier as they are Iranians.

But it seems that they have not learnt from the history that such brutal acts cannot create discord among the people; rather it helps promote national unity and solidarity and consolidates the Iranian nation's resistance against the aggressors and sponsors of terrorists, the statement said.

Condoling with the brave people of Khuzestan, the Cabinet declared Monday day of mourning and insisted on delivering a crushing response to perpetrators of the crime.

It also called on all countries, especially neighboring states to deal with those who have played role in the terror attack, as they should be certain that regional countries' security is common asset of the regional nations.

At least 29 people were killed and more than 60 others injured during Saturday morning terror attack in Ahvaz, capital of Khuzestan Province, in southwestern Iran.

The terrorists disguised as the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and Basiji (volunteer) forces opened fire at the authorities and people from behind the stand during the parade,' Governor General of Khuzestan Gholam-Reza Shariati said earlier.

The self-proclaimed Saudi-affiliated Al-Ahwaz terrorist group claimed the responsibility for the attack.
