Iran’s chess among top 10 countries of world
Bojnord, Chief of Iran's Federation of Chess said that with regard to the measures and plans that have been made, Iran's position in this field will be promoted to the top 10 countries within next few years.
Addressing the Chess Assembly of North Khorasan on Monday, Mehrdad Pahlavanzadeh stated, 'Chess in history has belonged to Iran and we are trying to make our players stronger and get their true status.'
He added that Iran's presence among the top 10 countries of the world has been targeted by more activities, the use of good coaches.
Pahlavanzadeh said that chess activities in the country are developing and growing fast and now, there are 1000 chess trainers in the country on the training of players, and provincial delegations are also engaged in a campaign of finding new talents in this field.
According to him, now the number of ranked players of the federation has reached 10,000 and over 30,000 chess players are member of the federation.
Referring to the success of the country's chess players under the age of 16, Chess Federation chairman said that this year, several good players have left this age group due to the increase in age, and the status of the country has fallen short of them.
