Iran’s Customs finds 17 illegal migrants in cargos

Tehran, IRNAIran's Customs officers found 17 illegal immigrants hiding in shipments entering the country.

With the 17 people who were hidding in various shipments, such as cotton, thread and raisins, the number of people who tried to enter Iran illegally via cargo containers in the current Persian year (started March 21) reached 43, according to Iran's Customs Administration website.

The tractor trailers had departed neighboring countries and were heading to Turkey.

Since two years ago that Iran's Customs checkpoints were equipped with electronic inspection tools, the officers have uncovered more than 550 cases of people-trafficking.

Most of the cases have been related to the citizens of the neighboring countries hiding in cargo containers and tractor trailers.
