Iran’s Islamic revolution commemorated in Karbala
Karbala, Feb 9The 39th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution was celbrated by Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr institute in Karbala, Iraq on Friday.
Iran consul general in Iraq Mir Masoud Hosseinian congratulated anniversary of the Islamic Revolution and also victories against Daesh terrorists and over conspiracies hatched by some regional countries and the US.
He referred to Iran's progress in political, scientific, economic and military fields.
Iranian diplomat also appreciated Iraqi government and people for hosting Iranian pilgrims.
The day of Imam Khomeini's return to Iran from exile (Feb 1, 1979) marks the beginning of the Ten-Day Dawn ceremonies which culminate with the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution on February 11, 1979.
The Iranian people toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime 39 years ago, ending 2,500 years of absolute monarchy in the country.
