Iran’s Minister of Sport hold talks with his counterpart
Tokyo, IRNA- Iran’s Minister of Sport and Youth Masoud Soltanifar and Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan Koichi Hagiuda met and held talks in Tokyo.
The meeting aimed at the implementation of the MoU on sports cooperation, which was inked last year between the two countries.
Top Iranian sports officials arrived in Tokyo on Wednesday for talks with their counterparts from other world countries on the sidelines of the 32nd edition of the Olympic Games.
Upon arrival in Tokyo, Iran’s Minister of Sport and Youth Masoud Soltanifar and the Head of the National Olympics Committee Reza Salehi Amiri have been accorded welcome by Iran’s ambassador to Japan Morteza Rahmani Movahhed.
Tokyo Olympic Games, which were due in 2020, were postponed for a year due to the global outbreak of COVID-19.
Some 66 Iranian athletes will represent Iran in the competitions in different sports fields.
Iranian shooter Javan Foroughi won the first gold medal for Iran's squad in the Tokyo Olympic Games by defeating all his rivals in the men's air pistol field.
Foroughi managed to receive 244.8 scores in the category men's 10m air pistol and conquered the first place, winning the first gold medal for Iran in Tokyo Olympics and also the first gold medal for Iran's shooting sports.
