Iran’s National Army Day ceremonies begin
Tehran, Iran's National Army Day ceremonies began on Wednesday morning in the presence of the country's President Hassan Rouhani at the Mausoleum of the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran Imam Khomeini.
Today's ceremony is attended by a number of senior commanders of Iran's armed forces.
It is scheduled that in the ceremony some units of the Ground, Navy and Air Forces of Iran's Army as well as the country's Air Defense Force of Khatam-ul Anbiya to hold a parade and showcase their operational and defensive capabilities.
Furthermore, some new achievements of the Army will be put to display to the public during the ceremony.
Scores of local and foreign reporters are also present for live coverage of the event.
Thirty years ago on the same day, the US attacked Iran's oil platforms of Nasr and Salman in the Persian Gulf and the Army forces deployed on the platforms were martyred as a result. Imam Khomeini dubbed the day after the Army's sacrifices in defending the country against the aggression.
