Iran’s president in Asaluyeh to inaugurate petchem projects
Bushehr, Iran's President Hassan Rouhani arrived in Asaluyeh, Iran's southern Province of Bushehr, on Tuesday morning to inaugurate a number of major petrochemical projects.
The president will officially open the Phase 3 of Pardis Petrochemical project, Methanol and Marjan, as well as the first phase of Damavand Petrochemical Power Plant.
Asaluyeh is located on the shore of the Persian Gulf some 270 km SE of the provincial capital of Bushehr. It is best known as the site for the land based facilities of the huge PSEEZ (Pars Special Energy Economic Zone) project.
Later on Tuesday, an agreement will also be signed between Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries and National Iranian South Oil Company for flaring the gas associated with crude oil.
Gas flaring at many oil and gas production sites protects against the dangers of over-pressuring industrial plant equipment.
In some areas vast amounts of such associated gas are commonly flared as waste or unusable gas.
Fulfilment of the project will relieve a main environmental concern of the inhabitants and authorities of Asaluyeh.
No meeting with the public is scheduled for President Rouhani's visit to Bushehr Province.
Ministers of oil and defense are accompanying President Rouhani in Asaluyeh.
