Iran’s Rouhani: US unilateralism to be discussed in SCO
Tehran, Iran's President Hassan Rouhani said that at the summit of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) the US unilateralism and Washington's long-time illusion that it is the world leader and decision maker will be discussed.
The US move in pulling out of a multilateral deal without any reason, is an offense to the international community and violation of the resolution 2231 of the United Nations Security Council, Rouhani told reporters before leaving Tehran for China to take part in the 18th SCO summit.
He made the remarks in reference to the Iran nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
The entire world should know that the US style is dangerous for the international relations as it undermines the international law, he said.
He noted that the issue will be discussed in the summit attended by two signatories to the nuclear deal with Iran.
Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council - the US, Uk, France, Russia and China- plus Germany signed the agreement in 2015. However, the US declared its unilateral withdrawal from the deal on May 8.
Iran believes that complicated regional issues can be solved through political dialogue, President Rouhani said.
'Today, we regard intervention of big powers in the region as a problem that we assume the solution to it is multilateral talks,' he said.
He also said that at the summit, several global issues such as terrorism and extremism that are threatening world security as well as West and Central Asia, will be discussed.
He added that Iran can share its four-decade experiences in fighting terrorism and extremism.
Commenting on Quds Day, he said that the Zionist regime of Israel can never feel safe, since as an occupier it should be aware that a great nation will not leave its motherland.
Today, as the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan, has been designated as the International Quds Day. People in Iran and all over the world are expected to hold rallies to declare their solidarity with the Palestinians in struggles for their lawful rights against the occupation of the Zionist regime.
