Iraqi Army Takes Control of Mosul’s Left Coast: Commander
The Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Force commander, Lt. Gen. Abdul-Ghani al-Asadi has declared that the entire left coast of Mosul is now under the control of the country's joint security forces.
The Iraqi commander stressed that the security forces have made a significant progress in Eastern and Northeastern districts of Mosul, Badr News reported.
The Iraqi forces are trying at the moment to put ISIL terror group in the stage of actual depletion of its militants and equipment al-Asadi said.
He added that the Iraqi troops have managed to liberate more than 22 residential neighborhoods so far.
The left coast will announced ISIL- free within few days after clearing the neighborhoods from the remaining pockets and IEDs. The battle is heading towards escalation and the new plan proven to be effective, the commander concluded.
