Iraqi figure warns about consequences of US unilateralism
A senior Iraqi politician on Sunday warned against the consequences of US's unilateral sanctions against Iran.
This US measure is dangerous and has sorrowful consequences for the international community, Leader of the Iraqi National Wisdom Movement (INWM) Ammar al-Hakim said.
He made the remarks in a meeting with Special Representative for Iraq and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) Jan Kubis.
The Iraqi figure expressed solidarity with the Iranian nation over the US's oppressive sanctions.
US President Donald Trump announced on May 8 that Washington would pull out of Iran nuclear deal and reinstate sanctions which had been lifted under the accord.
The first round of the sanctions snapped back into place in August, with the second round which will aim the energy and oil sector taking effect on November 5.
This is while other signatories to the deal (i.e. Britain, France, Germany, China and Russia) have thus far criticized Washington's unilateral move and have repeatedly stressed their commitment to the deal.
