Iraqi FM says Iran-Iraq ties a pattern for others
Baghdad, April 23, IRNA, The good relations between Iran and Iraq have turned out to be a pattern for other countries, Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari said
The ties are deeply rooted in geographical neighborhood and also social relations between the two nations, al-Jaafari said in an exclusive interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
Holy places in two countries, religious commonalities, common interests, and also joint threats to both sides are among issues which contribute to cementing ties, he said.
He also referred to Iran's positive stance against former dictators in Iraq, saying when Saddam Hussein regime was pursuing its hostile policies, Iran hosted many of these people.
I also went to Iran and stayed there, he noted.
The relations between the two countries consist of different aspects and are in line with their common interests, al-Jaafari reiterated.
