Iraqi Kurdish delegation to visit Iran’s West Azarbaijan

Erbil, A delegation from Iraq's Kurdistan region will visit Iran's West Azarbaijan Province in the near future to discuss ways of boosting economic cooperation, a senior Kurdish official said on Monday.

General manager of Kurdistan Region Affairs of Iraq and Iran Abdullah Akerei said that a trade conference will also be held in line with the visit to the Kurdistan region with participation of the chambers of commerce from Azarbaijan and Erbil.

Following a visit by the region's Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani to Iran, and given the prime role of the country in Iraq, the region has become more interested in expanding economic ties with Iran.

Erbil and Tehran will be witnessing a new phase of economic relations in near future, Akerei said speaking to Iraqi media.

The two sides will also open a series of serious talks in forms of economic delegations.

Officials of the Kurdistan region have recently called for more mutual relations with Iran, particularly in economy and trade.
