Iraqi minister: Sanction wrong, doomed policy
Baghdad, Iraqi Interior Minister Qasim al-Araji said on Wednesday that slapping economic sanctions and putting economic pressures on Iran are wrong, unacceptable and failed policies.
He made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Iranian Minister of Interior Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli who is on an official visit to Iraq.
Sanctions cannot withstand against the resistance of nations, he said, adding that nations will remain and will pass these developments with success and finally the region will experience calmness and stability.
Iraq is ready to broaden cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran in holding the religious festivity dubbed Arba'een, is a Shia Muslim religious observance that occurs forty days after the Day of Ashura.
The current visit of the Iranian interior minister to Iraq is a good opportunity for both sides to exchange views on border security, he said adding that we know that Iran has offered many martyrs in fight against drug traffickers at borderlines.
Iraqi nation, religious figures along with the special supports by the Islamic Republic of Iran led to numerous victories against terrorists, he said.
Tehran is thankful to Iraqi officials for their hospitality for Iranian pilgrims during Arbaeen, Rahmani Fazli said.
Iran's interior minister, heading a high ranking political-security delegation, left Tehran for Baghdad on Wednesday morning.
