Iraqi Special Forces Advancing on Eastern Mosul
Iraqi Special Forces advanced on the Islamic State group-held city of Mosul from the east on Monday, taking heavy fire but moving within three kilometers (2 miles) of the city's limits.
The dawn assault saw armored vehicles, including Abrams tanks, move on the village of Bazwaya as allied artillery and airstrikes hit Islamic State (ISIS , ISIL, IS and Daesh) group positions, drawing mortar and small arms.
Lieutenant General Abdel Wahab Al Saadi, Iraqi Special Forces commander: "The Anti Terror Forces are advancing toward the eastern side of Mosul. We will achieve that today, God willing."
