Ireland president hails Iran’s regional role
London,Ireland's President Michael D. Higgins said on Monday that Iran plays a very prominent and impressive role in restoring security and stability of the troubled Middle East region.
He said in a meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Ireland Javad Kachoeian on Monday.
In the meeting, the two sides examined expansion of relations and cooperation between the two countries.
Thanking the efforts made by the Iranian ambassador during his tenure, he said the volume of trade exchanges between the two countries has been doubled last year which is to the benefit of both sides.
There exists ample of untapped potentials for expansion of all-out cooperation between Iran and thr European Union, he said.
At the end of the meeting, Ireland president conveyed his warm greetings to his Iranian counterpart.
The Iranian ambassador, for his part, expressed satisfaction over the meeting and conveyed the warm greetings of Iranian president to the Irish president.
Iranian top officials are determined to expand volume of all-out cooperation with Ireland, the ambassador said.
The Iranian ambassador also highlighted the significant role of Iran in restoring peace and security in the Middle East as well as regional developments mainly those in Yemen and Syria.
