IRNA Chief hails setting up joint Iran-Afghanistan newsroom

Tehran, Managing Director of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) welcomed a request by an Afghan media delegation to establish a joint media newsroom between Iran and Afghanistan.

Seyyed Zia Hashemi noted, The two countries and the brotherly nations of Iran and Afghanistan have a common destiny and the role of the media in strengthening this link and strengthening the ties between Tehran and Kabul is unmatched.'

A 10-member delegation of Afghan media institution met IRNA managing director on Monday after touring various parts of IRNA newsroom.

'The historic, cultural and emotional bond of the two neighboring countries has become stronger over past few decades,' Hashemi said, adding that the fate of the Afghan nation has always been important to us and that Iran sees Afghanistan's security and progress as its own security and progress.

He said that the media in Afghanistan and Iran should stand with authority and coordination and cooperation in the face of media outlets that seek to undermine the relations between the two countries and two neighboring nations, and to work on introducing the capabilities and capacities of the two countries.
