IRNA chief: Interaction between Police, media to bolster public confidence

Tehran, Managing director of Islamic Republic News Agency said on Monday that interaction between Police and media will boost public confidence and lead to find better ways to solve problems.

'Media should be a mouthpiece for people,' Zia Hashemi said at a ceremony on National Reporter's Day held at a Police hall in this Iranian capital city.

National Reporter's Day is annually marked in Iran on the 17th day of the fifth month of the Iranian calendar (Mordad) which is the anniversary of killing of the IRNA correspondent Mahmoud Saremi by Taliban in northern Afghan city of Mazar-i-Sharif in 1998.

The IRNA chief stressed that media should publish the realities.

If the media do not reflect realities, others will do so but with deviance under the different goals which only serve their own interests, Hashemi added.
