Italy politician: Attack on Syria breathed new life into terrorists

Rome, -The leader of Italy's Lega Party and a potential candidate for the position of the prime minister, Matteo Salvini, on Saturday described US-led airstrike on Syria as wrong, saying that firing missiles at Syria breathed new life into terrorists

In a video communications with a political festival dubbed 'Dialoghi Eula' held in northern Italian city of Villanova Mondovi on Saturday, Salvini thanked Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni for not allowing the country's military bases to be used for launching the attacks.

International disputes will not be solved by launching missiles; rather it needs dialogue, he said.

Russia and the US should sit at the negotiating table to manage Syrian crisis, he said, describing last night's attack as very dangerous and hoping that it would be the last attack.

Early Saturday, the United Kingdom, the United States and France launched strikes at Syria over reports of a chemical attack in the city of Douma.
