Kurdish Peshmerga Starts Offensive to ISIS Controlled Town of Bashiqa
Kurdish peshmerga fighters on Monday continued their operation to retake the Islamic State (ISIS, ISIL, IS and Daesh) group-held town of Bashiqa, about eight miles (13 kilometres) northeast of Mosul.
Kurdish television channel Rudaw broadcast footage of the start of the operation early on Monday with fighters and technical vehicles amassing near Bashiqa.
The town, which is believed to be largely empty except for ISIS group militants, has been encircled by Kurdish forces.
