Lavrov reacts to Bolton’s remarks: Russian media
Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov responded the US National Security Adviser John Bolton that had demanded Iranian forces leave Syria.
'All foreign forces that are present in Syria without the Damascus' invitation must leave the country,' RIA Novosti quoted Lavrov on Wednesday.
Bolton had said that the US will cooperate with Syria provided that the Iranian forces leave the country.
Syrian authorities have already said that the Iranian presence in their country is legal while the US presence there is a clear 'invasion' of the countries national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Syrian President Bashar Assad said in an interview with UK Mail, 'The Russians were invited by the Syrian government; their existence in Syria is a legitimate existence, the same for the Iranians. While for the United States, the UK, it is illegal, it is an invasion; they are breaching the sovereignty of Syria a sovereign country. So, their existence is not legal at all, it is an illegitimate existence.
US forces has been present in Syria without the permission from the legal government in Damascus since two years ago. The US-led coalition has bombarded some parts of Syria since then and has killed or injured numerous Syrian civilians.
Iranian military counselors have been present in Syria to help the Syrian armed forces to counter terrorists.
