Lebanon says will not participate in Warsaw Conference
Beirut, Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil said in a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif in Beirut on Monday that his country will not take part in the ongoing Warsaw Conference.
Bassil said that the decision about not participating in the Conference is taken in accordance with Lebanon's national interests.
The Conference, slated for February 13-14, will be hosted by Poland and sponsored by the United States.
The US actually aims to turn the so-called conference on Peace and Security in the Middle East into an event against Iran's presence in the region.
The Iranian foreign minister, for his part, appreciated Beirut's firm stance on Warsaw Conference.
Zarif arrived in Beirut for a two-day visit on Sunday.
