Libyan Forces Destroy ISIL Stronghold in Sirte
Libyan forces loyal to the UN-backed government are preparing to move on remaining Islamic State (Daesh/ISIL/ISIS/IS) strongholds in the coastal area of Giza district in Sirte.
Holding out at the outskirts of Giza district and communicating with Islamic State (Daesh/ISIL/ISIS/IS) fighters and residents through handheld loudspeakers, they said families they fear are being used as human shields are still trapped inside.
Field commander Ali Buzayan said they were still waiting for women and children to be evacuated as well as giving a chance to anyone who wanted to surrender. Few Islamic State (Daesh/ISIL/ISIS/IS) fighters remain in the Giza district after 656 buildings were retaken last week.
