Light quake jolts Faryab in Southern Iran

Kerman,An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale jolted Faryab in southern Iranian province of Kerman on Monday afternoon.

According to a report of seismography center affiliated to Tehran University Geophysics Institute, the tremor occurred at 15:08 hours local time (10:38 hours GMT) and its epicenter was at 56.15 degrees longitude and 28.26 degrees latitude and in the depth of 10 kilometers underground.

Director General for crisis management of the province Majid Saeedi told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) that the quake caused no damages.

'We have boosted the resistance of the buildings against earthquakes above 5 Richter which has resulted in less damage to the buildings,' he added.

Faryab is located in 330 kilometers south of Kerman city.
