Light tremor shakes western Iran
Kermanshah, An earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale jolted northwest of the Kermanshah Province on Sunday.
According to the Seismological Center of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the tremor occurred at 11:41 hours local time (07:11 GMT) in an area located at 15 km of Tazehabad and 28 km of Javanrud.
No report on possible damage to life or properties has been released yet.
Iran sits on major fault lines and is prone to near-daily earthquakes.
Kermanshah has been jolted by several earthquakes since November 12, 2017, when a 7.3-magnitude earthquake hit the province’s Ezgeleh region killing at least 620 people and injuring over 12,000.
