Mogherini stresses EU decision to keep JCPOA
Tehran, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini reiterated the bloc's efforts to preserve Iran nuclear deal known as JCPOA, saying that she met with German, French and British foreign ministers for the first time since US exit from the deal.
She added that the negotiations centered on preserving these countries' investments in Iran.
Mogherini further noted that after the meeting with the trio, she is scheduled to explore the measures needed to keep the deal in place with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.
She reiterated that the EU is determined to keep the accord, which is of high significance for the bloc and Middle East's security.
JCPOA constitutes a major part of the NPT, therefore it is important to salvage the deal which proved effective and useful earlier, she maintained.
Hawkish US President Donald Trump's announcement to pull US out of JCPOA on last Tuesday drew fierce criticism from the other parties to the deal and international community. European sides have declared they will remain complaint with the deal.
