Nepal’s president calls for fullscale ties with Iran

Tehran, Nepalese President Bidya Devi Bhandari called for promotion of relations between Iran and Nepal as two countries that share long standing ties and ancient civilizations.

Emphasizing the role of people to people diplomacy in promotion of peace and friendship in the region and the world, the Nepalese president said that her country and Iran deserve much stronger relations.

The remarks were made at the ceremony of receiving Iran's new ambassador's credentials.

Ali Chegeni, Iran's accredited ambassador to Kathmandu, for his part, expressed Tehran's preparedness for broadening the economic, trade, investment, tourism and other technical relations with Nepal and echoed the president's view on the importance of people to people diplomacy in bilateral relations.

Chegeni is also Iran's ambassador to India.
