New diplomatic activities aimed at declaring stances: Iran
Tehran, After US illegal withdrawal from the Iran Deal, Tehran decided to declare Iran's stances through diplomatic initiatives and constructive engagements with other nations, said the Foreign Ministry spokesman on Monday.
Delegations from Iran have been dispatched to other countries recently, Bahram Qasemi said during his weekly press conference.
'Head of Foreign Policy Straregic Council, Kamal Kharrazi was sent to Vatican, Italy and Spain while Vice-President for Women and Family Affairs, Masoumeh Ebtekar and Vice-President for Legal Affairs, Laya Joneidi traveled to Indonesia and the Netherlands respectively; Minister of Energy, Hamid Chitchian visited Armenia and Pakistan and the Presidential Chief of Staff, Mahmoud Vaezi went to Turkey,' Qasemi said.
The delegations who were dispatched to other countries all carried the message of Iran's President Hassan Rouhani elaborating on the stances of the Islamic Republic after the US unilateral abandonment of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
The trip to Moscow by Ali Akbar Velayati, Foreign Policy Adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, was again conducted in the framework of the decisions taken by Iran's diplomatic apparatus and the government, he said.
'Velayati visited Moscow as a special envoy to Iran's president,' the Foreign Ministry spokesman said.
Answering a question on the claims by some Russian officials, alleging that Iran and Russia have agreed on an oil-for-food deal, Qasemi said that there had been no comments by the Iranian party on the issue.
'I cannot make any judgments on the correctness or falseness of such a claim as well as the capacity and qualifications of the Russian official who has made such a claim,' he said.
'But in order to reach a mutual understanding to promote cooperation on any issue we need engagement of expert delegations and concerned organizations and passing through a long, long road,' he stressed.
