Official: Albania entering gate of Iran to Balkan
Tehran, Head of Iran's Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mine and Agriculture in a meeting with Albanian Deputy Foreign Minister for economic affairs Etjen Xhafaj underlined the need to develop economic ties between the two countries.
Gholam Hossein Shafaei, who is in the Albanian capital of Tirana to meet the European country's senior officials, said on Wednesday that Albania is a gate for Iran to enter Balkan region.
Shafaei, who is in Tirana at the head of economic delegation from private sector, said intention of both countries political leaders is to develop bilateral economic relations.
He said by beginning of positive process of free economic development in Albania, a new chapter of bilateral ties is to start.
Xhafaj also stressed that undoubtedly the recent visit of Albanian foreign minister to Tehran indicated intention of Tirana to develop economic ties with Iran.
Role of private sectors of the two countries in this process is undeniable; Xhafaj said, expressing the hope that by implementation of agreements cancellation of double taxation and investment persuade the two sides can achieve their economic goals.
Albania is in south of Europe with population of over 3 million and 70 percent of them are Muslim.
Iran exports to Albania in 2017 were 5,327, 837 dollars and its imported goods from Albania were 386,374 dollars.
