Official: Iran ready to respond to any act
Tehran, Head of Strategic Council on Foreign Relations of Iran Kamal Kharrazi said if the US wants to have military interference; Iran is ready to give firm crushing response to them.
Speaking in an interview with French media 'France24', Kharrazi described as suspicious the recent accident in Oman Sea for oil tankers, urging for clarifying the issue.
Commenting on the recent claim made by the US president as regard readiness to hold talks with Iran, he said Trump's efforts are aimed at putting more pressure on Iran.
Referring to Iran's 60day ultimatum to Europe over JCPOA commitments, Kharrazi said Iran expects Europe to act in line with preserving Iran's nuclear deal.
In response to another question as regard the possibility of escalating tensions between Iran and the US, Kharrazi said the situation is very dangerous and all should be cautious.
Stressing the fact that the US animosity against Iran is not new, he said Americans are imposing severe pressure on Iran and as they claimed they are after changing the political system in Iran.
Elaborating on the possibility of closing Strait of Hormuz, he said Iran is capable of closing the strait based on national interests and oil exports.
He went on to say that Iran is not able to trust the US, since they walked away from Iran's nuclear deal which has been verified by the United Nations Security Council resolutions.
Pointing to Iran's right to reduce its commitments under the JCPOA and its 60day ultimatum to Europe, he said unfortunately, Europeans did not take any tangible measures for solving banking and trade problems.
