Official: US common enemy of Iraq, Iran
Tehran, Member of the Expediency Council (EC) Ali Akbar Velayati called US as common enemy of Iran and Iraq, saying resistance against the Zionist regime and excessive demands of the US is common point of the two countries.
He made the remarks in a meeting with a group of Iraqi thinkers visiting Tehran.
Velayati said there are different factors, which have caused existing common policies of the two countries, such as neighborhood with 1,200 kilometers of common borders, cultural and religious commonalties, common resistance against the Zionist regime and excessive demands of the US and some other western states, as well as capacities and extraordinary privileges and desire for reinforced independence.
Both countries have huge energy resources and enjoy deep several thousand years' culture and people of the two countries, in the real sense, are a 'nation' that has considerable share in the formation of the Islamic civilization.
Head of International Center for Belady Study Yasser Abdul Hussein, who is heading the group, expressed pleasure for being able to visit Iran and expressed the hope that good and positive steps could be taken during this visit to expand scientific cooperation.
