Official: US threatening countries to protect its interests
Tehran, Iran's deputy of Interior Ministry for security and law enforcement said that the United States is threatening all countries to protect its interests, but the international community must demonstrate its commitment to confront US unilateralism.
Addressing a meeting with Singapore's Ambassador in Iran Ong Kong Yang on Monday, Hossein Zolfaghari pointed to Iran's preparedness to establish a comprehensive cooperation with the country at expert level and also by the decision-making authorities, and said, 'Iran is not a threat to any country in the region; and we are ready to engage logically with all the regional countries.'
The deputy interior minister for security and law enforcement affairs emphasized Iran's adherence to the nuclear deal, and continued, 'America is threatening all countries to protect its interests, but the international community must prove its commitment and obstruct US unilateralism.'
Stating that the US sanctions against Iran would put pressure on businessmen and other countries to engage with Iran, Zolfaghari noted, 'Iran's efforts in the economic field are not to be affected by such events in the future, and the prudence of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution is that to use the opportunity to reform economic affairs.
He said the United States aims to promote Iranophobia to sell its weapons and plunder regional wealth and political arrangements in line with its own interests.
'While the Americans know that Iran is serious in its fight against terrorism and is never seeking nuclear weapons and is not a threat to any country in the region, the US is pursuing a process of instability in the region through psychological operations and direct and indirect actions,' Zolfaghari said.
