Over half ton of drugs seized in southern Iran
Bandar Abbas, The Hormuzgan province border guard commander said on Thursday that in a joint operation with Intelligence Department, half a ton of narcotic drugs were confiscated in the provincial city of Parsian.
Colonel Ali Asghar Khorramroui told IRNA late Thursday that smugglers intended to transfer the consignment from shore to land but police forces stopped them and confiscated the drugs hidden in a vehicle.
Two people were also arrested during the operation and were handed over to judicial authorities, Khorramroui said.
With the confiscation of the said package, the amount of drugs seized since the start of the current Iranian year (started March 20) reached over six tons, he said.
Parsian is located 500 kilometers west of Bandar Abbas, capital of Hurmozgan province.
