Pak politicians slam Trump’s anti-Pakistan rhetoric
Islamabad, Aug 22, Pakistan politicians in their Tweet messages lashed out at US President Donald Trump's harsh comments against Pakistan.
So the US again blames Pakistan for its deeply flawed and failed Afghan policy stretching over a decade, Chairman of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) Imran Khan said in a series of tweets.
We must also reject being made scapegoats for the policy failures of the US, he said.
Our economy suffered over $100 billion in losses. In addition, there were intangible costs on our society. Time for Pakistan to say: Never again, said Imran Khan.
He said: We fought two wars in Afghanistan at the US behest paying heavy human and economic costs both times.
Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Senator Sherry Rehman did not find anything new in the US policy on Afghanistan.
US policy on Afghanistan doesn't sound new. But the admin is new and its tactical plus geostrategic moves amplify old dogma to new levels, she said.
Senator Mushahid Hussain? tweeted: Einstein would sum up US strategy: 'Trying the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is a sign of stupidity/insanity.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)'s Syed Ali Raza Abidi said: Pakistan has done a lot to fight against terror and will continue its resolve to eliminate terrorism with resilience, but will not be dictated.
PTI's Asad Umar said: As far as threat of sanctions are concerned has anyone told trump that US flows to Pakistan are so small as to be nearly irrelevant.
Trump threatening to go back to an Afghan policy of troop build up and pressure on Pakistan, a policy which has failed to deliver in 16 years, he said.
Shireen Mazari of PTI said: Blaming Pakistan will not win the war for the US in Afghanistan. She said Trump should recall US' shameful exit from Vietnam and realize US wars abroad failed because they were based on erroneous assumptions and miscalculations.
