Pakistan to sponsor resolution against US Al-Quds decision
Islamabad- Pakistan's permanent representative to the United Nations (UN), says Pakistan would co-sponsor a resolution at the UN, calling for the withdrawal of US decision to recognize occupied Jerusalem (Beit-ul Moqaddas) as the capital of Zionist Regime of Israel, state media reported.
Maleeha Lodhi, said this at a meeting of the OIC Ambassadorial Group at the world body, which met to strategize its position ahead of the General Assembly's special emergency session on Jerusalem's Status on Thursday.
Lodhi said Pakistan's support to the Palestinian cause and to the defense of Al-Quds is and has always been a core principle of its foreign policy.
She said the US move regarding Jerusalem undermines the international legal system and further destabilizes an already volatile and violent situation in the region.
Lodhi said it not only diminishes the prospects of peace, but will further embolden the occupying power into defiance.
The UN General Assembly's meeting has been convened jointly by the Arab Group and the OIC following the US veto of the UN Security Council resolution rejecting President Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Zionist Regime.
