Pakistani diplomat vows to further strengthen bilateral relations with Iran

Islamabad, IRNA — Foreign Secretary of Pakistan stressing the importance of bilateral cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran in various fields, including border management said Islamabad is committed to further strengthen interactions and consultations with Tehran.

Sohail Mahmood in an interview with IRNA, after holding a meeting with the Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran in Islamabad on Tuesday expressed confidence in the current level of fraternal relations between Iran and Pakistan.

Referring to the long common border between the two neighbors, he added Pakistan considers its border with Iran as the border of peace and friendship.

Recalling the recent meeting of the leaders of the two countries on the sidelines of the SCO summit in Dushanbe the senior Pakistani diplomat said Islamabad is determined to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation with Tehran in various fields.

Sohail Mahmood described Afghanistan as a matter of concern for both Tehran-Islamabad adding the two are playing a coordinated role to help bring peace in the country.

He said that the Islamic Republic of Iran and Pakistan are committed to strengthening regional interactions to help resolve crisis in the neighboring state.
