Pakistan’s defense expo kicks off with presence of Iranian delegation
Karachi, A fourday 10th International Defense Exhibition and seminar, IDEAS 2018 kicked off in southern Pakistani city of Karachi on Tuesday with the presence of an Iranian military delegation.
The Deputy Coordinator of the Islamic Republic of Iran's Army, Vice Admiral Habibullah Sayyari is leading the Iranian delegation on the invitation of Pakistan Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
The Iranian delegation comprises of senior officials from Army, Air Force, Navy and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Iran's military attache in Islamabad Brigadier Mohsen Riazat and Iranian Consul General in Karachi Ahmad Mohammadi are also part of the Iranian delegation.
President of Pakistan Arif Alvi inaugurated the event. While addressing the opening ceremony of the IDEAS 2018, he stressed that Pakistan's weapons are for peaceful intent.
522 exhibitors from 50 countries are taking part in the exhibition and will be able to showcase their highquality arms from November 27 to November 30. Besides trade visitors, more than 262 highlevel delegations from 51 countries are also visiting the exhibition.
Vice Admiral Habibullah Sayyari on the occasion visited pavilions of different countries to see the displayed defense products.
The first two days of the event have been earmarked for delegations, trade visitors and for networking activities.
The other highlights include an international seminar on emerging global and regional environment and the role of grey hybrid warfare therein from Pakistan's perspective. Renowned national and international subject matter experts will also present their scholarly papers on the topic.
