Peace journalism; Joint plan by IRNA, int’l news agencies
Tehran,Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) Managing Director Seyyed Zia Hashemi and next director of the World Congress of Agencies, emphasized the strengthening of peace journalism and the promotion of peace as a sustainable reality in a joint media project.
Seyyed Zia Hashemi made the remarks on the sidelines of the 43th summit of the Executive Board of the Asia-Pacific News Agencies(OANA) in a meeting with managing director of Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) Maxim Minchoff, who heads the upcoming World Congress of Agencies.
'The world is changing rapidly, but peace is always a lasting reality that we can with one another, and even with other media such as Azartaj and Anatoly persue this issue in our media as a joint project,' Minchoff said expressing desire for launching shared plans with IRNA.
'It's definitely a very important achievement that there are several news agencies in several countries sharing news and joint projects,' said Minchev, proposing the exchange of a limited delegation of journalists to visit the BTA news agency in Bulgaria by Iranian media and IRNA and added that all guests' fees would be charged to the host country, except for the airline's tickets are being bought by the country who sends the delegation.
'We have had the experience of exchanging media delegation for visiting various international media from Cyprus, Macedonia, Sudan and other countries, whose results have been very influential,' said the head of the Sixth World Congress of Agencies.
Referring to his interest in Iran, Minchov said, 'I have already written a book on several countries, one of which is devoted to Iran, but I believe that Iran should have a large book that covers all aspects of Iran's cultural and social aspects and I will definitely do this in the near future.'
The head of the Sixth World Congress of Agencies announced the invitation of the United Nations and UNESCO Secretary Generals as two special guests at the congress and invited the IRNA's head to attend the international media event.
Hashemi. for his part. also welcomed the proposal to send media delegations to two countries, saying that 'we could discuss more about your plans, to come up with an operational solution, and we are working to work as soon as possible'.
The 43th meeting of the Executive Board of the Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) was addressed Monday by the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed Abbas Salehi and IRNA's managing director Seyyed zia Hashemi, with the participation of senior executives of the news agencies of the Organization, senior news agencies, Iranian newspapers and a number of heads of commissions and representatives of Iran's parliament, IRIB, the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other organizations and institutions hosted by IRNA at the Spinase Palace Hotel in Tehran.
