Port relations between Iran, Azerbaijan expanding
Sari, Mazandaran Province, According to an agreement between Iran and Azerbaijan, trade relations would be increased through ports, especially ports in northern Iran, said the Deputy Minister and the Director of Ports and Maritime Affairs of Azerbaijan.
Taleh Ziadev made the above remarks after visiting Amirabad, Behshar in eastern Mazandaran on Tuesday at a meeting of the managers of the complex.
'My country is ready to expand bilateral trade, especially through ports, and the two countries' capacities in port affairs to boost exchanges have been provided,' Ziadev said.
He said that with the development of the port of Baku on Caspian Sea in 2018, Azerbaijan has taken an effective step to increase the amount of maritime trade, and the capacity of equipment for this work has been provided in the northern ports of Iran, especially in the port of Amirabad.
Referring to the agreement between the two presidents of Azerbaijan and Iran to establish a railway network between Azerbaijan and Astara, Ziadev said, 'The expansion of the rail network will significantly boost the growth of maritime and port trade between the northern provinces of Iran.'
He added, 'Amirabad harbor also equipped with the railway to take the necessary equipment for expanding maritime and rail relations, and Azerbaijan is ready to cooperate with Amirabad port to expedite the construction of the railway.'
The director of the ports and maritime sector of Azerbaijan said that his country has a good foundation for foreign investment and is welcoming Iranian investors.
