Portugal says is ‘ready’ to further develop ties with Iran
Tehran, Portugal is prepared to expand relations with Iran in all sectors, a senior Portuguese Foreign Ministry official said.
Lisbon tries to expand bilateral ties between Iran and Portugal in all aspects and is capable of cooperation especially in trade, tourism and academic sectors, said JA�lio Vilela, DirectorGeneral for Consular Affairs and Portuguese Communities on Tuesday in a meeting Mostafa Kavakebian, head of the IranianPortuguese parliamentary friendship group in Tehran.
He stressed that moving towards a visafree regime for both countries' politicians, that possess political passports, is a very effective way in consolidating bilateral relations and upgrading them.
For his part, Kavakebian called for easier processes for ordinary Iranians to receive Portuguese visas.
The Iranian lawmaker stressed the importance of further expansion of ties between Tehran and Lisbon, saying the two nations are enjoying longtime economic and commercial relationships.
He also urged Portuguese authorities to go ahead with further developing relations with Iran regardless of the US pressure and sanctions.
