President Assad: Syria ready for political peace
Damascus, Syria's President Bashar al-Assad said Sunday that elimination of terrorism in most of the Syrian territories has set the ground for political solution to end the war on Syria.
What impedes peace in Syria are the policies and preconditions set by supporters of terrorism impedes the peace, he said in a meeting with Senior Assistant to Iran's Foreign Minister, Hossein Jaberi Ansari.
Ansari, who is heading a high-ranking delegation, congratulated Syria's people and leadership on the achievements in the framework of defeating terrorism in the city of Daraa and its countryside, whether through reconciliations or military operations, the Syrian state-run news agency, SANA, reported.
President al-Assad stressed that these achievements reflect the solid will of the Syrian Arab Army and the allied forces in liberating the entire Syrian territory from terrorism.
The meeting was one in a series that are regularly held to exchange reports on diplomatic measures and latest developments with regard to Syrian peace talks of Astana.
