President condoles deaths in landslides

DHAKA, June 13, 2017 (BSS) - President M Abdul Hamid today condoled the deaths due to landslides triggered by torrential rains overnight in southeastern part of the country.

In a condolence message, the President expressed his profound shock at the death of civilians in Chittagong, Rangamati and Bandarban and also two rescue campaigners belonging to Army.

He also asked authorities concerned to complete the rescue operation within the shortest possible time and ensure proper treatment of those injured in the landslides, President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told BSS.

Abdul Hamid prayed for eternal peace and salvation of the departed souls and conveyed deep sympathy to members of the bereaved families.

Many of the victims belonged to the ethnic minority or tribal groups in Rangamati and Bandarban as they are used to live in their makeshift abode on or along the hills.
