President Rouhani's message is as follows:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

Dr Jahangiri,

Honourable First Vice-President,

The painful incident of passenger train collision in Semnan province that left a number of our fellow countrymen and conscientious personnel of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways dead and injured caused great grief and sorrow.

It is essential that the respective and responsible organs, especially the Ministry of Roads and Urban Planning, immediately scrutinise the causes of the incident and introduce the possible guilty parties and take all necessary measures and technical and management precautions to prevent such tragic incidents from happening again.

Furthermore, it is crucial that all relief and provincial agencies, especially the Ministry of Health and Medical Education take the necessary measures to swiftly treat the injured.

I therefore offer my condolences to the bereaved families and ask the Almighty mercy and ample blessing for those who lost their lives in the bitter incident, as well as patience for the bereaved families and swift and full recovery for the injured.

Hassan Rouhani
