President Rouhani condoles death of passenger plane
Tehran, President Hassan Rouhani in a message on Sunday condoled death of over 60 Iranians in a passenger plane crash.
Today's passenger plane crash claiming lives of all passengers and crew on board was source of regret, President Rouhani said in his message.
In the message, President Rouhani prayed for the victims and also sympathized with their bereaved families.
President Rouhani also called minister of roads and urban development based on the civil aviation law to attend and form a rescue headquarters to administrate emergency and rescue operations while reporting the main reasons of the plane crash and take necessary measures to avoid reccurrence of such incidents.
An Iranian passenger plane which crashed this morning had hit Dena Mountains, Iran Emergency Center announced.
The plane had 66 people on board, including 60 passengers, 2 flight attendants and pilots and 2 security forces, Iran Emergency Center spokesmen Mojtaba Khaledi told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
The Asseman Airlines' passenger plane crashed in the Kohangan Village near the Padena region, 120 Km from Semirom in Isfahan Province, Shahrokh Konari, Governor of the Kohgiluyeh-Boyer Ahmad Province earlier told IRNA.
Meanwhile, Head of the Relief and Rescue Organization of Iran's Red Crescent Society Morteza Salimi said 20 operational teams from three provinces have been dispatched to the site.
The rescue helicopters are on alert, but bad weather conditions are hampering the rescue operation, he added.
The ATR plane is a twin-engine turboprop used for short-distance regional flights.
