President: Time limit for Europe still in effect
Tehran, President Hassan Rouhani said on Monday that the time limit Iran has given to Europe is still in effect and others, i.e. 1+4, are expected to compensate for the US pressures and preserve the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
In his live televised address, the President said Iran national interests are important.
'As far as foreign relations are concerned, our national interests are important. Of course, our ties with Russia and China, cannot be compared with those with Europe. The relations are times better. It is China that continues to work in the nuclear field in Arak reactor; it is China that is busy trading with us as our major trade partner. In talks with the Chinese officials on the sidelines of Shanghai session, they turned out to be committed to continue relations with Iran. There might be problems in terms of enforcement of commitments but both Chin and Russia explicitly say that they act on their commitments.
'We want good relations with all countries but under current conditions, Asian countries are of importance for us. The relations we have with China and ASEAN, including the amity agreement we signed, are expanding and there is no impediment on the way and we continue relations.'
Elsewhere in his remarks, President Rouhani said economic conditions are getting better in favor of economic activities.
