Putin to visit Saudi Arabia
Moscow, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister announced on Monday that preparations are underway for Vladimir Putin's visit to Saudi Arabia and Moscow is just waiting for the result of the investigations into the murder of Saudi prominent journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Mikhail Bogdanov told reporters murder of Khashoggi has generated global uproar and that the world should patiently wait for the result of the probe into the case.
He said a high-level delegation from several Russian organizations have just arrived in Saudi Arabia.
Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced last week President Putin would visit Saudi Arabia in near future.
Peskov added following the invitation from the Saudi king, Russia began working on the visit.
The trip comes amidst global backlash over murder of Khashoggi.
The 59-year-old Saudi investigative journalist entered the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October second to collect documents for his forthcoming marriage and never came back out.
After 18 days of silence and rejecting claims that Khashoggi was killed, the Saudi government finally bowed down to international pressure and claimed the prominent journalist was killed in a fist-fight inside Istanbul consulate.
World leaders are deeply concerned by the confirmation of killing the journalist, calling Saudi Arabia's explanation into question.
His body has not been recovered yet and its whereabouts remains to be known.
