Rouhani: Iranian gov’t motto is negotiation
Tehran, President Hassan Rouhani said on Monday that the Iranian government's motto is negotiation.
In an televised address, the president said the members of the Iranian government today are those whose motto has since the beginning been negotiation and interaction and have continued this way, adding that they had talked even with Americans and othes.
'Within two consecutive years, the outcome of talks were observed more or less by Americans and others who were more committed as Iran was. '
The person claiming to be willing to talk should know that talks have some rules the first rule being sincerity, said the president, adding, 'Both sides should believe in sincerity. '
The one who today claims he wants to talk is the same one who left international accords without any negotiations, he noted.
He noted that the one (Trump) who claims he wants to hold negotiations should first of all show that he intends to solve problem through talks. 'What does it mean to hold talks while sanctions are in place at the same time?
He noted that Iran talked with the US administration even after the new government had come to power.
He added that Iran talked to the US secretary of state on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
