Russia: Maintaining JCPOA great achievement for 4+1
Moscow, The director of arms control and nonproliferation department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, referring to the efforts of his country and other members of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action to preserve it, said maintaining JCPOA would be a great achievement.
'JCPOA was one of the most successful achievements of history in the face of non-proliferation and arms control,' Vladimir Yermakov told reporters
He added, 'In fact, we agreed on the impossible, and it was a very subtle compromise that was initiated by the Americans who insisted on helping Russia solve Iran's nuclear issue and reaching an agreement with that country.'
The Russian foreign ministry official said, 'America was worried about Iran's nuclear capability, but experts have shown that Iran does not make any effort in military nuclear energy.'
He argued that the IAEA experts proved the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program, and then the deal was signed, and Iran took additional commitments.
Yermakov said Iran is the country where most of the IAEA inspections took place, and there were no objections to its nuclear activities.
Referring to the influence of Israel on the Trump government, he said, 'The United States has raised more demands from Iran and wants it to fully comply with Washington's desire.'
