Russian FM: JCPOA needs to be kept alive
Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Wednesday that Russia believes that Iran nuclear deal known as JCPOA needs to be kept alive.
Lavrov made the remarks while addressing a UN Security Council meeting on Non-Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction.
If the JCPOA is not kept alive, Middle East will witness chaos, Lavrov said.
US unilateral withdrawal from the JCPOA is dangerous for the system of non-proliferation of weapons, the Russian foreign minister added.
Iran has remained committed to its pledges under the JCPOA, he said, noting that the International Atomic Energy Agency confirms Iran's commitment to the deal.
