Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov Says Syrian Peace Talks in Geneva Postponed
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov meets members of Syrian opposition in Moscow and says that talks on the Syria crisis in Geneva are postponed from February 8.
Members of the Syrian opposition were in Moscow on Friday to discuss the peace process with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
The meeting comes after two-day talks in Kazakhstan on Syria ended Tuesday with an agreement among Russia, Iran and Turkey to consolidate a Dec. 30 cease-fire, take joint action against extremist groups and jumpstart peace negotiations.
Russia and Iran are close allies of Syrian President Bashar Assad, while Turkey supports the armed opposition.
